In the center of the patch is the Tryzub — one of the key national emblems. According to one theory, it symbolizes the triune nature of the world and the triumph of life over death. During the reign of Volodymyr the Great and the Rurik dynasty, the Tryzub on a blue shield was seen as a symbol of authority and power. Archaeologists find it on coins, pottery, and official seals used in international treaties signed by Kyivan Rus. For centuries, the Tryzub has represented the Princely State of Volodymyr the Great and remains the ultimate symbol of FREEDOM and independence of the Ukrainian people.
